Tri-City’s Amani Larry, Gateway’s Ben Harris Earn Weekly Awards

AVON, OH – The Tri-City ValleyCats had a very successful Week 11. After David Glancy and Dylan Broderick each had big moments at the Y’all Star Game, infielder Amani Larry earned Player of the Week honors thanks to his five extra-base hits. Gateway Grizzlies right-handed pitcher Ben Harris also had a good week, striking out nine over eight shutout innings to claim the Pitcher of the Week Award.

Tri-City ValleyCats infielder Amani Larry began his week by going 2-for-3 at the plate in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader against the Québec Capitales. He hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to help the ValleyCats to a 9-0 win. In game two, Larry drew a walk in the sixth inning after coming off the bench, then stole home after reaching third base.

Larry was back in the starting lineup on Saturday, when he collected a double and a two-run home run in an 11-5 Tri-City win. Larry added another home run on Sunday in a close loss. Across Tri-City’s four games, Larry slashed .615/.667/1.384 with two doubles, three home runs, and five RBIs. He had just four home runs this season entering the weekend, but now has seven.

Larry joined the ValleyCats last season after briefly playing for the Evansville Otters in 2024. He played collegiately at Mississippi State in 2023 and 2024, and at New Orleans in 2022.

Gateway Grizzlies right-hander Ben Harris pitched eight shutout innings against the Lake Erie Crushers on Saturday. Harris struck out nine while allowing four hits and two walks on 116 pitches. He earned the win in the contest and is 7-4 overall this year.

Harris now has back-to-back scoreless appearances after blanking the Schaumburg Boomers over five innings on July 10. His 73 strikeouts are the third-most in the league this season, and his 72.1 innings pitched are the fifth-most. The Grizzlies are 8-5 in games that Harris starts this year.

Harris is in his second season with Gateway. He originally joined the team in June of last season after pitching for three years at Georgia Gwinnett. Harris was a two-time Continental Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year (2024 and 2025) and is Georgia Gwinnett’s leader in career wins (30).
