Québec’s T.J. Schofield-Sam, Evansville’s Junior Cerda Earn Weekly Awards

AVON, OH – As the final two weeks of the regular season dawn, teams are beginning to secure playoff spots. The Québec Capitales clinched a postseason berth last week thanks in part to Player of the Week T.J. Schofield-Sam. The infielder hit .545 (12-for-22) and drove in eleven runs for the Capitales. The Evansville Otters can clinch a playoff spot in the coming days after right-handed pitcher Junior Cerda’s big week. Cerda recorded three saves and struck out seven for Evansville to earn Pitcher of the Week.

Québec Capitales infielder T.J. Schofield-Sam posted a 1.402 OPS and tallied three extra-base hits at the bottom of the order. He reached base five times on Wednesday, recording three hits and drawing a pair of walks. Schofield-Sam also recorded four RBIs and scored three runs in the Capitales’ 16-2 win over the Sussex County Miners.

Schofield-Sam again reached base five times on Friday, going 4-for-5 at the plate with a walk and driving in another run in a Québec win. He picked up his first home run of the season on Saturday amid a 4-RBI day.

Schofield-Sam first joined the Capitales in early July after being acquired from the
American Association’s Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Ontario native spent the previous six seasons within the Athletics organization, playing as high as Double-A with the Midland RockHounds in 2025.

Evansville Otters right-handed pitcher Junior Cerda struck out seven across four
appearances to earn Pitcher of the Week. Cerda shut down the Washington Wild Things on Tuesday, working a perfect ninth inning and earning a save in a 4-1 Otters win. He picked up another save on Wednesday, recording the final out after entering the game with two runners on base.

Cerda struck out the side on Friday against the Florence Y’alls to close out a 9-5 Otters win. He next appeared on Saturday, earning his third save of the week with a perfect inning.

Cerda is in his first year with the Frontier League. He was named an All-Star this season, and his 18 saves rank second-most in the League. Cerda split his 2025 season between the American Association’s Kansas City Monarchs and Gary SouthShore RailCats. Cerda pitched for four seasons within the Arizona Diamondbacks organization from 2021 to 2024, playing as high as Advanced-A with the Hillsboro Hops in 2024.
