AVON, OH – Ahead of their matchup in this week’s Wild Card Round, the Evansville Otters and Schaumburg Boomers claimed this season’s final weekly awards. Evansville Otters outfielder LG Castillo earned Player of the Week after hitting .571 (12-for-21) with five extra-base hits. Schaumburg Boomers right-handed pitcher Kyle Moore, meanwhile, pitched six scoreless innings to claim Pitcher of the Week.

Evansville Otters outfielder LG Castillo ended his week with a 1.448 OPS and five extra-base hits in a six-game series against the Down East Bird Dawgs. He recorded a ninth-inning, pinch-hit double on Wednesday for his first hit of the week.

Castillo scored three runs while going 3-for-6 at the plate on Thursday. After an off day on Friday, Castillo returned to the Otters’ lineup on Saturday with a perfect, 5-for-5 day. He tallied a pair of doubles and scored two runs in a win. Castillo logged another three hits — including a triple — on Sunday to conclude the regular season.

Castillo is in his first season with the Otters. He played for the American Association’s Gary SouthShore RailCats from 2022 to 2025, and the Washington Wild Things in 2022. Castillo was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2017 MLB Draft and played parts of four seasons within the organization. He reached as high as High-A with the Carolina Mudcats in 2019 and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2021.

Schaumburg Boomers right-handed pitcher Kyle Moore delivered six shutout innings across three relief outings this week. Moore made his first appearance on Tuesday in a win against the Florence Y’alls, allowing one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings.

Moore next appeared in mop-up duty in a 9-2 loss against the Washington Wild Things on Friday, striking out two in a perfect eighth inning. He pitched again on Sunday, delivering three shutout innings while the Boomers trailed. Schaumburg later took the lead and won, clinching the Midwest Division.

Moore is in his second season with the Boomers. He re-signed with Schaumburg in March after pitching two games for the team in 2025. Moore also pitched in one game for the Pioneer League’s Boise Hawks in 2025 after graduating from Missouri Southern that year. He is a native of Streamwood, IL, which borders Schaumburg to the west.
